Hi Folks, and welcome to our Research Methods Blog for ANTH 5300 Spring semester 2009 at WMU.
We will be using this blog to discuss a series of controversial issues related to questions of research ethics in Anthropology. The basic approach will be that I will post something here every week (typically a link to a pdf or two and some questions or comments designed to start the discussion) which you will then read and respond to by submitting comments below each blog entry. I will post my material over the weekend, which you all will read and react to by noon on Thursday (class meets Thursday evening). Everyone should then read all blog entries on Thursday of each week after noon but before the start of class. This will allow us to talk about our blogs in class each week.
This week's picture is of some of the beautiful wild horses or mustangs that live in the Great Divide Basin of SW Wyoming, where I have been leading field crews to collect primate and other mammalian fossils and to study geological deposits of Paleocene and Eocene age.
The picture reminds me of that old Garth Brooks song "Wild Horses", ant GB fans in the house?
ReplyDeleteI meant any not ant.
ReplyDeleteI don't know everybody's email address so here is the link for my blog I created: http://timsanthroblog.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteFolks,
ReplyDeletePlease notify me if you have technical difficulties with any of these links or whatever, so that I can fix them asap.
check check one two is this thing on?
ReplyDeleteThere we go now it works. Yes I am a Green Bay packers fan. So far no problems with the links.
ReplyDeleteCan someone do edit a wiki on how to make a web page, I have no idea.
ReplyDeleteIs this the weekly blog I'm supposed to comment to?
ReplyDeleteI think I liked the one about plagiarism better. we just can't get enough of people telling us not to plagiarize (Wilhelmi, 2009: 1). And I am a Packers fan as well.
ReplyDeleteSeeing those horses reminds me of my horseback riding days. Yes I use to ride dressage. You know with the funny beige pants, knee high boots, riding crop and bucket shaped helmet.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great picture. I like that the white horse is the only one that seems to be paying attention to the camera and the rest are going about business as usual. It is unfortunate that wild animals here and abroad continue to be decimated by human influence. Soon there will be very few left.
ReplyDeletealthough I got an email saying I am a part of the anthroreserach wiki I am unable to post a comment because it says I don't have authorization or something to that degree.
ReplyDeleteYes Tonya, you have found the blog.
ReplyDeleteAnd Ian, have you resolved the issue at the wiki? What about the rest of you...is the wiki working for you all? I know that Lisa has already been there and it allowed her to create a page.
Patrick, what have you done yourself to find out how to do a simple web page? Have you searched the web or the library for some resources yet? They are out there!
Also I see that several of you have started your own blogs (e.g., Tim and Ian). The rest of us should check them out and make some comments or suggestions about them. And, hopefully, you will all get some good ideas for your own stuff.
